SEVEN members will have a seat around the cabinet table.
Councillor Ken Meeson will be leader of the council, as well as cabinet member for resources.
Deputy leader, Bob Sleigh, becomes cabinet member for health and well-being.
The other five members are: Ian Courts (economic regeneration), Diana Holl-Allen (community safety), Ted Richards (transport and highways), Kate Wild (community services) and Joe Tildesley (children and young people).
Coun Meeson said that by taking two portfolios himself, there would be fewer cabinet members – saving the council money.
But the Labour group retorted that maybe the Conservative leader “didn’t have faith in his own team.”
The Tories also faced criticism for appointing their own councillors to chair all the smaller committees and scrutiny boards.
“They seem to have confused a majority with a monopoly,” said Coun Nick Stephens (Lab, Chelmsley Wood).
