MERIDEN MP Caroline Spelman has given a cautious welcome to the latest unemployment figures.
While figures suggest that the number of people out of work is falling in her constituency, she said there was still someway to go.
In April, 3,490 people were on the dole, this was almost 100 less than in the previous month.
But the number of claimants still puts Meriden towards the top-end of constituencies.
“While I welcome this small sign of improvement in Meriden, we have a long way to go before achieving full participation in the workforce here and nationally,” said Mrs Spelman.
“ I am always pleased to see new jobs being created locally – such as the 275 created this week at Land Rover – which will bring both jobs, and greater confidence, to the area.”
