UP TO 100 workers were evacuated from Solihull’s Land Rover site after a blaze broke out last Friday, June 25.
Emergency crews were called to the Lode Lane plant at 3.22pm after reports of a vehicle fire but the blaze spread to a nearby building.
West Midlands Fire Service confirmed that six fire crews were at the scene.
A spokesman said: “It was a forklift lorry and trailer and office building. Four breathing apparatus and four jets are currently in use.
“We don’t know what caused the fire or where it started. Initially we were called to reports of a vehicle fire.”
Eyewitnesses said they were alerted to the fire when they saw black clouds of smoke billowing in the sky.
Jaguar Land Rover has its own fire crews and a spokesman said: “It wasn’t as bad as it looked because there was a lot of black smoke.
The fire was in the loading bay, it did not spread to the building.
Nobody was hurt and no cars were damaged - there was a lot of smoke damage to the loading bay.”
