Firemen walk to funds peak

AN INTREPID team of fire fighters based at Birmingham International Airport recently completed a gruelling trek for Cancer Research UK.

AN INTREPID team of fire fighters based at Birmingham International Airport recently completed a gruelling trek for Cancer Research UK.

The group decided to walk the 25-mile route because several colleagues and former colleagues have been affected by the disease.

Starting at Bakewell in the Peak District, the 12-strong team crossed the rugged terrain last Wednesday.

They had collected an impressive £1,250 before they even began and now they’ve completed the trek, the group are hoping to raise an extra £2,000.

Richard Meanley, who organised the trek said: “This is a terrible disease which seems to have an affect on most people’s lives and in this way, we might just help to make a difference.”

If you’d like to sponsor the team then you can visit their web page at www.justgiving.com/bhx.
