HOODS Carpets have bucked the current trend in two ways this month.

HOODS Carpets have bucked the current trend in two ways this month.

Not only did they celebrate 70 years in business, the family-run company have also opening up their second shop in the area.

The new site on Newborough Road will support the original shop still at the Maypole which was opened in 1939 by Hilda and Arthur Hood.

Hilda’s son, Gerald, now 64, currently runs the business with his son Nicholas, 33.

Nick is pleased with the company’s performance and hopes to continue to trade successfully.

“We may not have built a huge business in 70 years,” he said.

“But we’ve built one with strong links to the local community and one that’s built to last.”
