A CALVACADE of classic cars will be wending their way through the borough this Sunday.
Between 40-50 vehicles are due to take part in the borough’s first ever Classic Car Run, with organisers hoping to increase the number in future years.
“We’ll have cars of various ages and models - Land Rovers, Rovers, Sunbeams, Minis and a Ford “T” Model.
“Our aim really was to create an event that involved both the north and south of the borough, taking in lots of different neighbourhoods.”
Motorists will line up their vintage vehicles at the Jaguar Factory in Castle Bromwich and follow a route around the borough.
Along the way they’ll pass through north Solihull, Meriden, Hampton-in-Arden, Catherine de Barnes, Solihull, Olton, Acocks Green, Shirley, Knowle, Dorridge and Hockley Heath.
The cars are setting out at 10.30am and the rally is expected to take two hours - with the drivers pulling up at Blythe Valley Park at around 12.30pm.
The rally is one of the final events of this year’s Solihull Festival, which started a fortnight ago.
Apart from this all-new event, Sunday will see the return of the annual favourite Fun in the Park.
There will be music and dance and other entertainment in Tudor Grange Park, with money going to Macmillan Cancer Support. Events kick off at 11am.
