A SERIAL burglar who has stolen more than £200,000 worth of property was jailed for five years last week.
Peter Harris, 32, of Ridpool Road, was sentenced at the Leamington Justice Centre on Friday.
He had been charged with three burglaries, but asked for 51 other offences to be taken into account.
Many of the thefts, spanning a ten-year period, took place in the borough’s leafy suburbs.
The court heard that Harris had been spotted outside a Marston Green home, which was burgled on August 22.
Solihull police arrested the career crook in October, after he attempted to break in to a home in Station Road, Knowle.
When questioned by officers, he admitted to burgling another address in nearby Dorridge.
Jonathan Barker, defending, said that Harris had stolen to feed his heroin addiction.
DC Tim Kennedy, based in Solihull, said it was unusual for an offender to admit to so many crimes.
“I am delighted with this result, which will hopefully bring closure to many of Peter Harris’ victims,” he said.
“He wrote to his victims to say that they weren’t targeted personally.”
West Midlands Police said they have recovered some £114,000 of property that Harris had stolen over the past decade.
