DO you recognise this colourful cockatiel – which was found making a flap in Kingshurst last Friday?
Staff at Solihull Community Housing knew the bird was about when they heard him squawking outside the organisation’s Meriden Drive HQ.
Michelle Hocknull and Barbara Griffiths raced outside to see the cockatiel being attacked by a pair of magpies.
“We were having lunch when we heard loads of squawking outside, so we dashed out to see what was happening,” explained Michelle.
“I had an apple in my hand so I slung it at the magpies to shoo them off, and Barbara swung her cardigan over the bird to protect it.”
The bird, which has been named Charlie by staff, is now being cared for by Richard Bowden, SCH health and safety officer.
He seems to have recovered from his ordeal, but staff are keen to get him back to his rightful home.
