A PERVERT who exposed himself in front of a two year old girl and her mother has appeared at Solihull Magistrates Court.

The victim, a full-time mum, was returning from Kingshurst School with her daughter, after dropping off her other children on Monday January 9.

But she was horrified when she looked up to see Stephen Richards, of Guernsey Drive, Smith’s Wood, standing near the school with his genitals sticking outside of his tracksuit, the court heard.

Marina Chrystanou, prosecuting, said the defendant only put them away as they passed nearby.

However, as the victim looked back, she saw Richards following her.

The young woman, “panicking and about to cry”, ran to her mother’s house, with her little girl, who called the police. The 26-year-old was arrested later that day.

“There are some aggravating features here. Although the complainant is adult, there was a very young child with her and it took place in quite close proximity to a school,” said Ms Chrystanou.

She added that the prolonged exposure and fact Richards had followed her home “which would and did cause her a great deal of distress.”

Richards pleaded guilty to intentionally exposing his genitals to cause alarm and distress at Solihull Magistrates on Tuesday January 10.

Mr Cook, defending, said: “He has never been in trouble before. He doesn’t know why he did it but he said he would never hurt anyone.

“He never planned to do anything to the woman.”

He added that the flasher had never worked but spends his time playing computer games.

Sentencing was adjourned until January 31 and despite police concerns over reprisal attacks, Richards was bailed on the conditions that he does not go anywhere near the victim or her home or Kingshurst School.
