OLTON Friary holds a Flower Festival and Open Day on Saturday July 3 as part of celebrations to mark the church’s 80th birthday. There will also be displays regarding the varied activities that take place in the parish, parishioners will be on hand to answer questions and tea and coffee will be available.
The event runs from 11am until 7pm at the church in St Bernards Road and there will be a short organ recital during the day by church organist Gerry Poole.
Recordings of the church choir will be playing and the choir will be performing live in the evening when the Archbishop of Birmingham, Bernard Longley, will be saying a celebratory mass.
