I WOULD welcome a Waitrose in Knowle if its size were sympathetic to the needs of the people of Knowle and the surrounding areas. They are considerate employers who also treat their suppliers fairly.
Their thoughtful attitude results in good farming practices. This is obviously better for the animals, land and ultimately the consumer. The public need to look at the bigger picture of what benefits Waitrose offer now and for our future. Their attitudes to food and food production differ greatly from the major global supermarkets who are totally driven by profit.
People who care about the above issues are good at supporting local food shops, farmers and WI markets, Knowle traders would inevitably benefit from their custom.
