THEY got together like Laurel and Hardy - cold weather and police warnings to motorists not to leave their cars unattended while they ‘defrost’.

Why the need to switch the engine on, put all the blowers and de-misters on, then pop back inside home, maybe have a cup of tea, a glance at the paper, etc, before wandering outside to discover that perhaps, a thief has taken advantage of your stupidity?
Few of us would leave the keys in the car and the engine running while we went to the supermarket or Touchwood, so why should we be immune from theft at home?
There are a number of issues that need addressing here. As we all know, car fumes aren’t the most pleasant substance to be pumping out into the atmosphere, and even worse when they’re not being used for the purpose of locomotion.
Secondly a finite resource, possible one that is already in decline, is being wasted at the same time.
In addition, the person wasting fuel is probably one of the first to complain about any rises in fuel price.
Besides, using an ice scraper is for many that first introduction to the chill of the morning, a chance to get to grips with what the day will hold,. a blast of reality before we’re cocooned in our warm, tin boxes.
Give it a go, give yourself a bit of exercise, help the environment, help stop car thefts and do the police a favour at the same time.
