HILLFIELD resident Shelley Wilson has raised over £500 for charity from an event organised in memory of her cousin.
Shelley put on a cake and coffee day at her home, inviting friends, family and clients of her holistic therapy business.
The event, on February 6, was organised in honour of Shelley’s cousin Lee Johnson who died of an epileptic seizure.
The 24-year-old passed away in December last year and now the family want to raise awareness about the condition.
“What we didn’t realise is that this is such a big killer among young people,” said Shelley, aged 38.
“I always thought it was like asthma, you took some tablets and it would be fine.
“Despite the tragic circumstances we are overwhelmed with the support we have received.”
The money will go to Epilepsy Research UK and Shelley hopes to make the fund raiser an annual event.
