DORRIDGE’S Forest Court shopping centre is closing earlier to deter troublemakers.
The premises is now shutting its doors at 5.30pm, the same time as the remaining shops.
The time has been brought forward from 7pm to ensure the building isn’t left unattended.
Last year, we spoke to local shopkeepers who voiced concerns about teenagers loitering around the precinct at night. There were also allegations of drug use and one business owner said they didn’t like walking back to their car during the winter months.
The rural policing team have said they’re still regularly patrolling and had checked to make sure the building was secure.
Permission was granted last November to demolish the centre and build a Sainsbury’s on the site.
