Former Chelmsley Wood care home worker jailed for stealing thousands from residents

A former Chelmsley Wood care home manager has been jailed for a year after stealing over £5,000 from vulnerable residents

A former Chelmsley Wood care home manager has been jailed for a year after stealing over £5,000 from vulnerable residents.

Dionne Halliburton managed the finances of many residents at Stonham Housing in Ipswich Walk, who suffered with severe mental health issues.

But a police investigation revealed the 41-year-old had stolen thousands of pounds between July 2011 and April 2012 to feed her drug habit.

The court heard how Halliburton, from Parkfield Drive, Castle Bromwich, signed off each of her fraudulent transactions so they looked authorised.

But care home bosses had become concerned by her high absence record and after conducting an audit, discovered several suspicious withdrawals.

Halliburton was charged with four counts of fraud and, on Friday February 8 at Birmingham Crown Court, was sentenced to 12 months in jail.
