A former drug addict and shoplifter has admitted descending back into stealing following his father’s death.

Kyle Ivison of Gospel Lane, Acocks Green was arrested after his description was circulated when he was seen stealing Armani Code aftershave, worth £55, from House of Fraser, in Solihull, on January 30.

When the 22-year-old was searched, police also found an iPhone charging cable, worth £35, which they confirmed had been taken from HMV.

The court heard that Ivison had been on bail for a similar shoplifting matter from last November during the time of the offence.

Sanjit Sanghara, defending, said recovering drug addict Ivison had kept out of trouble since 2009 until the tragic death of his father recently, had led him to relapse.

The case was adjourned to Birmingham Magistrates Court to be heard alongside the earlier shoplifting offence on February 19.
