THE Friends of Solihull Hospital have raised £87,000 in just 18 months for a piece of vital equipment, with the help of local businesses, schools and organisations.
The charity, which works to raise funds for Solihull Hospital, raised the money to buy keyhole surgery equipment which was on the hospital’s ‘wish list.’
The local community, including Wetherspoons Assembly Rooms, came together to raise cash for the Key Hole Surgery fundraising campaign.
“It makes us feel so proud that the community has pulled together at a time when the NHS is struggling,” Liz Steventon, honorary secretary of Friends of Solihull, said.
“Thanks to generous people, we have managed to raise this huge amount of money in half the time - we are absolutely chuffed to bits.
“The equipment will benefit an awful lot of people and should be ready to use in the new year,” Liz added.
The Friends’ next fundraising mission will be to raise £30,000 for equipment used to check the eyes for signs of macular degeneration
