Caroline Spelman, Conservative MP for Meriden has hit back at Labour’s claims that Conservatives are threatening to cut winter fuel payments, free bus passes and TV licences for pensioners.
Mrs Spelman said: “This is just not true. People shouldn’t believe Labour’s desperate spin. Conservatives have no plans to cut free TV licenses or winter fuel payments or free bus passes for pensioners.
“I would also like to add, despite what has been scurrilously reported about my expenses, they have been cleared by the independent scrutiny panel and are some of the lowest of all MPs.”
