A fun day out for youngsters

DISABLED youngsters are to enjoy a day out at Drayton Manor thanks to help from the Yardley & Sheldon branch of the Rotary Club.

Aided by a charity raffle this weekend held by The Little Owl pub in Bickenhill, the children from Brays Road, Merstone, Forest Oak and Hall Moor Schools will enjoy a fun-packed day while winners of the raffle will receive a VIP family meal and bottle of wine to be taken the following Sunday, Father’s Day.

Pub manager Louise Moore said: “All my staff will be getting into the spirit of things over the weekend by having their faces painted and wearing bright T-shirts – just like the children do when they have their great day out.

“It’s a wonderful initiative and this year some 130 disabled children from Solihull will be going, so we hope to raise as much as possible via the raffle and collection boxes.

“We’ve supported the local Rotary Club for a while now and they do a fantastic job, especially when you consider that 10 years ago when they first started the theme park annual outing only six children were able to go.”
