Sainsbury's bosses have assured residents they will finally start work on building the new store in the centre of Dorridge now they have been granted extra floor space.

Solihull Councils planning committee granted permission on Wednesday for the supermarket to increase the shop space so that they can also sell none food items - this is on top of the original planning permission for the building of the store at Forest Court Shopping Centre granted last year.

The extra floor space will not affect the overall size of the store but residents have raised concerns over the increased traffic from deliveries and customers this further expansion will bring.

Members said they were keen for Sainsburys to start work on improving the site but admitted, as the supermarket chain owns the land, building work does not have to start for three years.
