TALENTED pupils from Lode Heath School beat off tough competition to win the Birmingham StreetGames Inter Neighbourhood Tournament 2008.

The team who won the event at Nechells Leisure Centre have been taking part in football sessions that have been developed through Fusion - an initiative set up by Solihull Council to get young people from the borough involved in sport and active recreation.

Solihull Council in partnership with Lode Heath School and Sports College, where the sessions are held, and West Midlands Police, has been running the project to enable youths aged 10-19 to take part in regular football training.

Since January this year young people from across the borough have attended sessions with Thursday nights attracting up to 100 eager players each week.

Sessions continue at Lode Heath School. For further details contact Fusion Project Manager Ian Clarkson on: 0121 704 8517.
