IF back garden developments are such a lucrative business that enable greedy developers to waste vast amounts of money on fighting planning decisions, and yet still threaten they have not gone away then shouldn't garden vendors be asking a lot more money for their gardens because they are obviously worth it!

ON behalf of Marston Green Opposing Over Development, may I would like to thank the many people who have helped us campaign against a proposed 'garden grabbing' development in Elmdon Lane.
Our thanks first of all must go to the villagers for their support; the tireless leaflet distributors, those who generously gave donations; the people who were able to attend the hearings and the many others who sent messages of encouragement and support.
Thanks must also go to our MP Caroline Spelman who has been a constant support and is a font of knowledge; Councillors Bob Sleigh and Jim Ryan, for their encouragement and practical help; Richard Cobb who MGOOD was fortunate to have on its side as a planning consultant, and importantly the Planning Committee of Solihull MBC for reaching the 'common sense' decision to reject all three applications submitted by the developers.
Finally we must thank the local press who have followed our campaign from the beginning. You have given us the space to say in a loud and clear voice that we are not prepared to be bullied by people hoping to make vast sums of money from inappropriate developments. We are not 'triumphant' as has been suggested but we are certainly relieved and grateful to the Government Inspector for denying Sandstone's appeals.
