PEOPLE living in Solihull are being urged to ‘Get Active’ during a packed week of sporting events, which get going later this month.
Sports clubs, leisure centres, and community groups will all be getting involved in ‘Get Active Week,’ which is aimed at promoting sport, and physical activity, throughout the area.
It runs from Saturday, June 27, until Sunday, July 5 – coinciding with National School Sport Week.
Now in its second year, Get Active Week is again being organised by Coventry, Solihull, and Warwickshire Sport (CSW Sport) in conjunction with the sub-region’s local authorities, and aims to provide everyone with the chance to try new activities, and enjoy a healthy lifestyle.
It is being run simultaneously across North Warwickshire, Coventry, Nuneaton, Leamington, Warwick, Stratford, and Rugby.
A whole host of activities are scheduled to take place across the borough – some of which are free to take part in. They include tennis, badminton, trampolining, Tai Chi, and organised walks. Tracy Murphy, from CSW Sport, said the emphasis of the activities will be on fun, and is confident the week will prove to be popular.
“‘Get Active Week’ gives everyone the chance to try something new to help them stay active, and enjoy all the benefits of an active lifestyle,” she said.
“Activity should always be exciting, rewarding, and challenging, and a range of fun activities have been lined-up for people to try.”
