WELL, here’s a fine how do you do - Solihull has the lowest crime rate in the West Midlands yet local bobbies have the lowest satisfaction rating in the region.
Frankly, I can’t work it out, and neither it appears, can the police. As people, the borough’s officers all appear personable and as the statistics show, they’re doing a damn fine job too.
It may not be perfect, but in relation to the rest of the force, and the rest of the country, they’re punching above their weight.
If the police are working their socks off, then the other variant is the people of Solihull themselves. Are our expectations simply too high?
Granted, there’s never a bobby around when you need one and when they are about the obvious question is, crikey, what’s happened?
Of course, fear of crime is a factor, as are the anti-social yobbos who make life hell. However sometimes it’s worth giving credit where credit is due.
