A RECORD number of runners took part in last weekend’s Knowle Fun Run.
The annual fun event - organised by the Knowle and Dorridge Lions - attracted over 2,000 runners and raised over £35,000 for charity.
The crowds of runners were set on their way by Solihull funnyman Don Maclean.
The weather was a lot cooler than last year’s run, but the atmosphere was as warm as ever - scores of people turned out to cheer the athletes on.
Adrian Harris, from Knowle and Dorridge Lions, said: “We were delighted Don was able to join us.
“It seems that the decision to close the roads on the course was universally welcomed by runners and local residents who set out chairs and tables enjoyed a real party atmosphere.”
Among the charities which will benefit from the fund raiser are Macmillan Cancer Support and Whizz-Kidz.
