SUNSHINE beat down on the 1600 runners taking part in the 29th Knowle Fun Run last Sunday.
Midlands Today presenter Mary Rhodes set the crowds off on a 4.8mile route - which started outside Arden School.
Overall winner for the second year running was Christopher Ashford, from Knowle, who crossed the finish line in 24 minutes, 21 seconds.
Picking up trophies in the team events were Knowle and Dorridge RC Mens Team A, Solihull & Small Heath Girls and Lady Katherine Leveson CofE School.
There were also 250 entries in the Mini Run, for under nines, with Ben Garside, Sophie Lamaison, Blake Adams and Kate Woodman the fastest round the course. Organisers Knowle & Dorridge Lions are hopeful the event has raised over £35,000 for charities - including the Alzheimer’s Society, Crossroads Care and Dorridge & Knowle scout groups
Dave Carter, president of the lions club, said: “It takes over six months’ effort for some of our Lions and 200 helpers on the day. We now have to thank so many people, too many to mention here, who helped to ensure the day went off without a hitch.”
