SHEENA Goode - the current international champion from Monkspath - has secured a place in the England Ladies Flyfishing Team, which will defend its current title in the Home International Championships in Menteith, Scotland on May 24 2012.

Qualification came after a closely fought National competition fished at Rutland Water on Sunday August 28, which saw the country’s top women anglers pitting their wits against each other, in what were extremely challenging conditions. Sheena secured tenth place with three fish and a total bag weight of 5lb 9oz, with the top 12 places securing a coveted place in the England team.

The England Ladies Flyfishing team, under the guidance of manager Paul Sissons, has seen success over the last two years taking Gold Medals in the Home Internationals held at Bewl Water, England in May and at Llandegfedd, Wales during 2010.
