Great facilities, just need players

BUSY Blossomfield Club is in desperate need of new members.

BUSY Blossomfield Club is in desperate need of new members.

Numbers have dwindled in recent years at the Widney Lane club but officials are confident the creation of two new artificial European clay courts could boost interest.

Club stalwart Alana Parsons said: “We’re desperate for new members!

“Apart from the two clay courts, we also have three hard courts and two astroturf courts as well.

“We also have an excellent club tennis coach in Clare Williamson who is available to all the members”.

Apart from tennis, Blossomfield also offers cricket, football, hockey, chess, petang and a thriving drama group as well.

Alana admitted the club had become rundown in recent times but there was now a determined drive by the existing members to spruce the place up.

However she insisted: “There’s a great spirit within the club.

“We’ve even introduced a rusty racket section where parents can brush-up on their tennis to the point where they can knock-up with the youngsters.

“It’s reached the point where we desperately need some new blood now”.
