Greats to celebrate Olympics at Solihull School

WORLD Championship gold medallist Daniel Caines will be taking a stride back in time to help Solihull School host a bumper Olympic Day for children from 12 local schools.

The former 400m and 4x400m runner, who won World, Commonwealth and European Championship and Europe Cup medals in a glittering athletics career, will be a special guest at the event today, Friday, June 29.

A pupil at the school until 1997, he will be recounting his experiences of taking part in the Sydney and Athens Olympics to up to 400 children aged nine to ten from 12 independent and maintained schools from across the borough.

The youngsters will be competing in track and field events in the colours of different nations after taking part in a n Olympic torch-led opening ceremony.
