CHILDREN at Greswold Primary School have gone bananas about Fairtrade Fortnight.

Solihull’s MP Lorely Burt visited the school last week to promote the event - which began on Monday and will continue until March 8. Greswold insists that the bananas it orders for school meals are Fairtrade.

This means the yellow fruit will be in plentiful supply when the banana-eating challenge begins next month.

Fairtrade are hoping to break the world record for the number of Fairtrade bananas eaten in 24 hours. People can register to take part or find out more about the fortnight at www.fairtrade.org.uk.
