SOLIHULL Breathe Easy, a Solihull volunteer-run support group for people with breathing-related difficulties, gained prestigious recognition at the British Lung Foundation Awards.
The Breathe Easy charity, run in association with the British Lung Foundation, was formed two years ago with the support of Solihull NHS Care Trust.
The group, which supports Solihull residents with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease and any respiratory condition, exceeded all expectations at the Breath of Fresh Air Awards when they scooped awards in the following categories:
* Best new regional Breathe Easy Group
* Best regional newsletter
* Best national newsletter
* Community Respiratory Team was nominated by the Breathe Easy Group and were regional winners in the category of “Outstanding Healthcare in the Community”
Sandy Walmsley, Respiratory Nurse Specialist for Solihull NHS Care Trust, said; “The volunteer-led group extends welcome support to over 400 people suffering from breathing related conditions throughout the borough. As a respiratory nurse for Solihull NHS Care Trust, I am pleased to provide clinical advice and support to such a worthwhile cause that benefits so many of the borough’s residents.”
Susan Joyce, chair of Breathe Easy, added: “Receiving recognition from the British Lung Foundation has been welcome encouragement for all the hard work and time given by volunteers and clinicians to the Solihull Breathe Easy Group.”
