YOUNG drivers who would like to improve their skills are being invited to sign up with Solihull Advanced Motorists.

In their search to improve standards of road safety the Institute of Advanced Motorists are actively seeking to improve the driving standards of all drivers, especially those of younger drivers.

As part of the initiative drivers under the age of 26 can enrol for the IAM ‘Skill for life’ course for the discounted fee of £79.

As a further incentive, Solihull Advanced Motorists, the IAM’s local representatives, will give young drivers enrolling for their 10 week ‘skill for life’ course commencing on January 12 2009 and who pass their advanced drivers test a cash back payment of £35.

Places are also available for more experienced drivers.

Brian Irons from Solihull Advanced Motorists said: “People often ask what are the advantages of undertaking such a course?

“Very briefly, you will learn to drive in a planned, systematic way which helps you to become a safer driver and thereby reducing the likelihood of being involved in an accident.

“You should achieve better fuel consumption; your driving becomes more eco-friendly and after passing the advanced driving test, the opportunity to reduce insurance premiums.”
