Gym members shocked as Solihull gym suddenly closes.

MEMBERS of a ladies gym in Shirley have been shocked to discover the popular facility has suddenly closed.

Regular users of Pink’s Fitness visited the gym at Cranmore Place on February 22, only to find the centre had shut up shop without warning.

Aileen Cox, who has used the business since it opened in December 2009, said: “Notices had not even been put up explaining the situation.

“Luckily I was able to cancel my direct debit straight away so I’m not out of pocket - but others may be,” the 60-year-old Monkspath resident told us.

“I’m angry and upset really. It was a great little gym and it had a great social side.”

Around 28 former members of Pink’s have met up in Solihull following the closure.

“We had a big reunion. We all knew each other and would meet regularly at the gym,” Aileen added.

“Some members did not know of the closure and turned up at the gym only to be met with locked doors. Messages were posted on Facebook by members, expressing their anger and disgust at the way they had been left high and dry with no warning.

“It was run by a team of enthusiastic and helpful fitness instructors. It was friendly, fun and effective.

“There were also fund raising social events organised throughout the year.

“I would visit Pink’s at least three times a week and meet new and old friends there to exercise.

“It was such a friendly and welcoming place and the quality of staff was second to none.

“It will be greatly missed by all.”

Pink’s Fitness was not available for comment as the Solihull News went to press on Wednesday.
