A HALL Green family are sharing their secret recipes with the nation as part of a new BBC TV series, which celebrates home cooking.

Keen cook Yasmeen Ismail was invited to appear alongside the Hairy Bikers in the show’s second episode.

She will be teaming up with the Geordie duo to whip up some dishes which have been passed down from generation to generation.

“A lot of the recipes and blends of spices have been in my family for a long time,” explained Yasmeen.

“There were some of them that I didn’t know about myself until I came to do the programme and did some hunting around.”

The mum-of-two said that she’d been cooking up a storm in the kitchen since she was ten-year-old.

“It was fantastic to be able to cook with the Hairy Bikers - we did two days filming last year, one day at my home and one in the Cotswolds.”

Yasmeen is now looking forward to seeing some of her family’s food appearing in the recipe book which accompanies the series.

And as for those dishes which haven’t gone public - they’re in safe hands. Yasmeen’s two children are already big fans of their mum’s meals.

n Mums Know Best will be broadcast on BBC2 next Tuesday (January 12).
