INTERESTING how the writers of the first two letters in last week’s paper seem to have quite different views on Solihull’s recycling programme.
First Stephen Burt complains about the poor record of Solihull whilst ‘Boxed-in of Knowle’ complains at having more collecting boxes to contend with.
With complaints from both sides perhaps Solihull has actually got it about right.
I must however take issue with Mr Burt. First he seems to want Solihull to hand over my council tax to Birmingham and then he makes an astounding claim that Bickenhill is miles from anywhere.
Bickenhill is not miles from anywhere, it is only a few miles from the town centre and very convenient for large numbers of its residents.
Incidentally there is no need for residents of Shirley to resort to fly tipping as he infers as Bickenhill waste centre is conveniently located on Coventry Road just off the motorway and very convenient for a gentle drive round the M42 from Shirley. Drive reasonably at a steady speed and the chances are your CO2 emissions will be less than in-town driving to Lifford Lane.
