Hash harriers go on the run

A FANCY dress charity run will be held in Solihull to help life limited children in the district.

A FANCY dress charity run will be held in Solihull to help life limited children in the district.

Instead of an entry fee walkers and runners are being asked to donate a toy for the Christmas-themed event.

Organisers Birmingham Hash House Harriers (BH3) planned the a 'give a toy' fancy dress run to assist Acorns Children's Hospice raise funds and the donated items will be sold at Acorn shops throughout Birmingham.

Harrier Geoff Owen said: "The Hash Running Club keeps up a friendly social tradition stretching back 70 years, with events being held all over the world from Alaska to Zululand.

"Instead of the usual entry fee, we decided to ask for at least one toy, or game in good condition, for the children instead."

The run will start from the Drawbridge pub, Majors Green, Shirley on Saturday November 15.A prize is available for the supporter in the best Christmas outfit.

Anyone who cannot make the Hash can still donate toys and other items, to Acorns Shop, between 9am and 5pm. Each donated bag should be labelled with BH3 to show it's a Birmingham Hash House Harriers donation.
