The director of an influential think tank will be in Solihull on Tuesday to speak about green solutions to the credit crunch and recession.
Karen Leach, of Localise West Midlands, will be the guest of Solihull Green Party at a public event at the John Palmer Hall.
Ms Leach will outline what is called the Green New Deal, a major package of measures to tackle the triple crunch of credit-fuelled recession, climate change and soaring energy prices underpinned by oil shortages in the future.
Disparate groups came together in 2008 to propose a new solution, dubbed the Green New Deal, drawing inspiration from President Roosevelt’s responses to depression in the 1930s.
A Green New Deal would power a renewable energy revolution, create thousands of jobs and combat the power of the finance sector. The public are invited to come along to hear Ms Leach’s take on the Green New Deal and put their point across in a question-and-answer session, which will follow. Complimentary drinks and light refreshments will be available.
