HEARTBROKEN messages have been left by the children of a driver who died in a late-night crash in Olton - the third fatality on the borough’s roads in a little over a month.

Marc Walton, aged 32, from Acocks Green, died after his car collided with a tree in Brook Lane in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Marc Walton, aged 32, from Acocks Green, died after his car collided with a tree in Brook Lane in the early hours of Sunday morning. Police and ambulance staff tried to revive the motorist but he was confirmed dead at the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “Nothing could be done to save the man.

“Our condolences go to his family at this time.”

Emergency services said that Mr Walton was alone in the vehicle, a black Vauxhall Astra, and no other vehicles were involved in the crash - which happened around 1.25am.

Bouquets of flowers have already been tied to the tree and police are appealing for witnesses.

Messages apparently left by Mr Walton’s children pay tribute to a “super dad”.

On June 27, 20-year-old cyclist Tom Ridgway died following a collision on Streetsbrook Road.

And on July 15, Robert Jones, aged 23, was killed after coming off his motorcycle on the A41 Solihull Bypass.

Police are now appealing for any witnesses to this latest crash to call the collision investigation unit on 0345 113 5000.
