Helpers needed at Trust houses

Two local tourist attractions are seeking volunteers to help share their fascinating stories with visitors.

Baddesley Clinton and Packwood House, are appealing for more helpers to join their teams as they plan to open for an extra day next year.

There are opportunities to get involved across many areas of the properties including helping to share the history of the house with visitors as a room guide or day leader. They are also seeking volunteers to help prepare and deliver events.

An open day is set to be held at both sites on Tuesday November 9 from 10am to 3pm, where potential new recruits can drop in to enjoy a tour of the house, meet existing volunteers and find out more about the roles available.

Those interested will be given full induction and training sessions before each property opens for a new season on February 1 2011.

“For our new season, Tuesdays will be a brand new day, and we are seeking volunteers to join our fantastic teams,” said Joanne Davenport from National Trust.

“Whether you can spare a few hours or can offer regular commitment, we would love to hear from you.

“Like all National Trust properties, neither Baddesley nor Packwood would be able to operate without its loyal helpers.”

Volunteering is ideal for anyone who would like to make new friends, learn new skills or enhance their social life. Training is provided and no experience is necessary – just enthusiasm and a willingness to get involved.

If you would like to find out more about volunteering opportunities at either site, please call Catherine Taylor on 01564 783294.
