EMPLOYEES of local family firm, Johnsons Coaches in Henley in Arden, battled terrible weather and cycled 140 miles coast to coast last Saturday to raise money for Alzheimer’s Society and Dementia UK.

The team started at Whitehaven on the west coast of Cumbria at 5am on Saturday and cycled 140 miles to Tynemouth on the east coast arriving 15 hours later at 8pm.

John Johnsons, company director and team leader, said: “Our team of nine performed heroically; one member survived a nasty crash and still finished, and two others got lost and ended up doing over 150 miles and taking over 19 hours from 5am to midnight! We want to say thank you to all Johnsons’ friends, family and customers who have very kindly donated to help raise funds for two great causes.”
