HAIRDRESSER Gary Bates has one of his apprentices to thank after her coursework led to his salon landing a coveted award.

The celebrations were in full swing this week at HHHair in Castle Lane after the salon was officially recognised for the quality of its training.

HHHair won the Star Salon award from the Reflections Training Academy based in Birmingham.

Apprentice Laura Kvilums, aged 17, is a student at Reflections and was singing the praises she received as an apprentice at HHHair in an essay she submitted.

Tutors have also visited HHHair on a number of occasions to check on Laura’s progress.

Gary said: “Laura has been with us for three years and she wrote about how we take our apprentices to London for hair shows and have models every week for them to practice on, as well as how we challenge them.

“We are really proud to have won this award.

“It says a lot about the salon and how much effort we put into training.”
