A HIGH Court appeal due this week over the illegal Meriden gypsy site was postponed at the 11th hour.

The appeal was lodged by the travellers at the Eaves Green Lane site against Secretary of State for Communities Eric Pickles’ decision to refuse them planning permission.

It was due to be heard on Wednesday February 22 at Birmingham High Court and hundreds of members of Residents Against Inappropriate Development, RAID, across the country had planned to protest outside.

However, on the afternoon before, Tuesday February 21, Judge McKenna ordered the appeal to be adjourned until March 22.
