A MERIDEN pub will be offering guests a piece of history with their pint during the week of Remembrance Sunday.
John Smedley, who runs the Bulls Head on Main Road, will be serving Liberation Ale to those visiting the pub throughout the week, and has produced a fact sheet which explains the significance of the important occasion.
He said: “Although many people wear a poppy and observe a two minute silence on 11th November, not everyone knows about the key events of the First World War that ultimately led to us to remembering those who gave their lives then, in WW2 and in subsequent conflicts, today.
“I have created a summary that highlights the important dates and key facts for guests to read whilst they are enjoying a pint of Liberation Ale - 10p of which goes to the British Legion.”
“Hopefully those who weren’t aware of the details will find it interesting and who knows – maybe even those who thought they knew it all will learn something new!”
