Hoodie grabs cash in raid on One Stop

STAFF at a village convenience store were left stunned when an opportunist thief snatched around £100 from the till on Wednesday (December 3).

Shift Manager Jack Doyle had almost finished for the day at One Stop in Hockley Heath when a customer, who had just bought a packet of paracetomol, suddenly reached across the counter and grabbed the cash from the open till.

The 20 -year-old said he tried to stop the man, who was white, in his mid-twenties and wore a black hoodie, but was pushed aside.

He said:”I had just served him and while the till was open he grabbed the money.I carried on working and then the police arrived in about five minutes. There were about four cars and a van-more than I have ever seen in my life! We’ve not had an incident like this for ages or shoplifting either.”

Police say they are investigating the incident which took place at about 5pm. No- one was injured.
