House buried under ivy is stripper's worst ever case

IT MAY be difficult to see but there is a house nestled underneath this forest of ivy and a borough business have been tasked with finding it.

IT MAY be difficult to see but there is a house nestled underneath this forest of ivy and a borough business have been tasked with finding it.

A local ivy stripping firm have landed the mammoth task of removing the climber and returning the overgrown house, in Sherbourne Road, Cradley Heath, to a presentable home.

“This is the worst case I’ve ever seen,” said David Sidwell, owner of Shirley Ivy Stripping.

“It’s like a little forest, the house is completely consumed in ivy. It is the talk of the neighbourhood.”

Ivy was allowed to take over after the home was left unoccupied for seven years.

“It can get out of control very easily,” he added.

“You can have ivy for years but, if you don’t keep it in check, it suddenly goes whoosh up the house.

“Most of our cases take us a day or two. We’ll be at this one for a week!”
