I BELIEVE the Solihull News has received a briefing from Government Office regarding the imposition of additional housing development on Solihull as below:
The Government sponsored study puts forward three options, that all have a massive impact on Solihull. The options substantially increase our housing target to 2026 from the 7,600 net new dwellings included in Regional Spatial Strategy Review (RSS II) submission to Secretary of State to up to 20,600. No other local authority in the West Midlands region is faced with a challenge of this proportion. All the options require extensive building in Solihull's Green Belt land and the development of a new settlement.
This is devastating news and shows a total disregard for our communities, our countryside and our heritage. It is a spiteful and vindictive attack on Solihull by an increasingly discredited government that has ceased caring about the impact of its policies on the lives of real people.
Dumping so much development in Solihull will also threaten the West Midlands strategy on urban renaissance that has been so carefully constructed by district councils working in partnership and we must be united in resisting these outrageous plans.
