POLICE have released a CCTV image of a man they want to question following an attack on a passenger on a train between Solihull and Birmingham.

It is believed the attacker threw another passengers bag across the table so that he could occupy the seat before assaulting the commuter, at around 8.10am on Friday, January 18.

Investigating officer PC Jas Bathal said: "The passenger who owned the bag challenged the man who is then alleged to have assaulted the passenger.

"Enquiries are ongoing to trace the man responsible and I am now seeking to identify and speak to the man in this photograph about this incident."

The man is described as dark-skinned, stocky build, aged 40 to 50, around 5ft 9, with short black hair. He was also wearing a dark coat and carrying a rucksack.

Anyone with information is asked to call British Transport Police on 0800 40 50 40 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, quoting incident number B7/WWA of 01/02/13.
