GREEN-fingered residents listen up!
Solihull Council wants to hear creative ideas for the famous carpet flowerbed at Malvern Park.
Following on from the theme "local roots", which was set by the Royal Horticultural Society for this years Britain in Bloom competition, people are asked to submit designs that reflect local heritage, culture and history.
Charities and community groups are also welcome to share any special events or anniversaries they are celebrating in 2009 with the chance of having their event commemorated in the flowerbed.
The winning design will be brought to life by thousands of tiny plug plants and will feature in the park during the summer months.
The bed has already marked some special events over the years including the Queens visit in 2002, the millennium and the 600th birthday of Knowle Parish Church.
Cabinet member for quality of life and neighbourhoods, Councillor Mrs Diana Holl-Allen said: "We are very proud of the carpet flower bed at Malvern Park, it's one of the borough's many beauty spots.
"This event has become a traditional horticultural art that we hope to continue for many years to come. We look forward to seeing some fresh ideas for a new design."
All designs need to submitted by February 1 next year.
