'I'll miss having a laugh with the lads'

5LONG-STANDING Knowle butcher Stan Rawlings will be hanging up his chopping board for good this week.

Stan started at Eric Lyons in High Street 43 years ago and has become the longest serving member of staff.

Stan, who lives in south Yardley, said he has thoroughly enjoyed his time working for two generations of the Lyons family.

"It's been great working here, it has not always being easy over the years but you've got to keep at it when it gets tough.

"I'll miss the customers and having a laugh with the lads but I'll still be popping in to buy my meat!"

The keen gardener plans to keep up his hobby during his retirement and also help his two sons with DIY jobs.

Manager David Lyons said Stan was extremely popular with the staff and customers. After 43 years of fantastic loyal service to our father and us he'll be sorely missed.
