JESSICA Bailey, from Solihull, lost her Granddad last year to cancer. He and the family were supported by Macmillan and Jessica now wants to give something back and help raise awareness for this year’s Tree of Thought campaign.

The Macmillan Christmas drive invites you to make a donation and sponsor a light on the Macmillan Cancer Support Tree of Thought for someone who cannot be with you this Christmas.

There are currently 1.2 million people living with cancer in the UK and one in three people will receive a cancer diagnosis at some point in their life.

Macmillan improves the lives of people affected by cancer through practical, medical, emotional and financial support. By making a donation you are providing crucial support into helping Macmillan change the lives of those living with cancer.

Last year hundreds of people made donations towards lights on the Macmillan trees in Solihull Town Centre, Shirley, Chelmsley Wood Town Centre, Erdington Town Centre, Old Square-Birmingham and West Bromwich Town Centre.

This year Macmillan are adopting more trees and currently have Melbicks Garden Centre in Coleshill on board, hoping that even more people will make a suggested donation of £5, perhaps thinking of a friend or relative elsewhere in the UK or overseas, or to commemorate the life of someone special.

Jessica had very close experience with Macmillan Cancer Support when her Granddad was diagnosed with cancer last year. Unfortunately by the time the disease had been found it had spread and he became terminally ill.

Jessica said “Macmillan were a lifeline to our family as they came to the house everyday to care for my granddad and support my nan and the rest of the family. The Macmillan nurses were supportive to the whole family without them our family would not have coped.”

This year Jessica will be sponsoring a light on the Macmillan Christmas tree in memory of her Granddad.

If you would like to sponsor a light then simply fill in the application form and send along with your donation to the Birmingham Fund raising Team at Macmillan Cancer Support, 2nd Floor, Delta View, Coventry Road, Sheldon, Birmingham, B26 3PG. or call 0121 742 6393.
